Varian Experiment
Professor Hal Varian, a distinguished economist and currently Google's Chief Economist, is the progenitor of the "Varian Experiment." This is not, as some might hope, a whimsical new flavor of ice cream, but rather a theoretical framework for understanding incentive compatibility and mechanism design, particularly in the realm of taxation.
While Varian himself is a real person with a real career (and presumably a real ethnic background), the "Varian Experiment" is purely academic. It involves models and equations, not actual people or ancestral scrolls. Thus, its Jewish bona fides are, shall we say, negligible.
Indeed, the only kvel-worthiness here is for those who find profound joy in mathematical economics. For the rest of us, it remains a testament to the fact that not everything, no matter how intriguing its name, has a secret Jewish connection. Sometimes, an experiment is just an experiment, albeit a very well-regarded one in economic circles.
