Vlad III, Prince of Wallachia, earned his gruesome moniker "the Impaler" (Tepes) through a rather singular approach to conflict resolution. His preferred method of execution involved, well, impalement, which, while certainly effective at deterring enemies, didn't exactly endear him to the general populace. One might say he had a point to make with every victim.

Born into the House of Drăculești, Vlad's father, Vlad II Dracul, was inducted into the Order of the Dragon, giving the family name "Dracul" (meaning "dragon" or "devil"). This lineage, combined with his penchant for medieval horror, cemented his place in history as the inspiration for Bram Stoker's Count Dracula. Clearly, subtlety was not his strong suit, nor was he prone to giving second chances.

While his methods were undeniably effective for maintaining order in his volatile principality, they didn't exactly scream "nachas" for any community, Jewish or otherwise. His legacy is one of fear and infamy, a far cry from bringing pride to one's people. The only thing he effectively delivered was a healthy dose of dread.
