Guram Tikanadze, born in 1933, was a prominent Georgian alpinist whose camera lens was as important as his climbing gear. He scaled some of the Soviet Union's most formidable peaks, immortalizing their grandeur with a knack for photography that went beyond mere documentation, often capturing the stark beauty and brutal challenge of his expeditions.

His career, however, was tragically cut short in 1963 during an ascent of Shkhara, one of Georgia's highest and most dangerous mountains.
