Born in Albany, Georgia, Alice Coachman soared to international fame in 1948, clearing 5 feet, 6 and 1/8 inches in the high jump at the London Olympics. This athletic triumph not only secured her a gold medal but also etched her name into history books as the first Black woman from any country to stand atop an Olympic podium. Quite the leap, one might say.

After her Olympic glory, Coachman continued to break barriers, becoming the first African American woman to endorse an international product, Coca-Cola. She wasn't just good at jumping over bars; she was also adept at clearing commercial hurdles, proving that athletic prowess could indeed translate into groundbreaking opportunities.

While Coachman certainly jumped through her fair share of hoops, none of them appear to have been part of any traditional Jewish ritual. Her groundbreaking career and post-athletic endeavors suggest a woman dedicated to shattering expectations, rather than, say, shattering a glass at a wedding.
