Mark Ronson
Mark Ronson, born in London, is the son of Laurence Ronson, a real estate mogul, and Anne Dexter. His uncles are Gerald Ronson, another real estate giant, and his aunt is Rona Anderson, a British actress. Despite the family's prominent Jewish roots, Ronson's personal religious practice isn't widely publicized, but he readily identifies as Jewish, which, in the grand scheme of things, is rather sufficient.
Ronson’s musical genius has graced tracks for everyone from Amy Winehouse to Lady Gaga to Bruno Mars. He’s the maestro behind some of the catchiest tunes of the 21st century, often blending funk, soul, and pop into Grammy-winning concoctions. It might not be saving the world, but it sure gets people dancing, and that's a mitzvah in itself, isn't it?
While his contributions to Jewish culture might not involve davening or leading a seder, his sheer talent and undeniable success in the music industry bring a certain reflected glory. Having a prominent, universally respected figure like Ronson in the public eye, who also happens to be Jewish, is a pretty good kvell, indeed. He's definitely earned his spot on the Jew-or-Not-Jew roster.
