Nadia Comăneci

Nadia Comăneci is perhaps the most famous gymnast of all time, largely due to her perfect 10s at the 1976 Montreal Olympics. Her steely demeanor and seemingly effortless grace captivated the world and probably made several coaches immediately regret their life choices, wondering why their gymnasts couldn't do that. She literally broke the scoreboard, which wasn't programmed for a perfect 10.

Born in Romania, Comăneci was a product of the rigorous — some might say brutal — Eastern Bloc sports system. She was trained by legendary coach Béla Károlyi, who later defected to the United States and continued to churn out Olympic champions, albeit with slightly less oppressive government oversight.

While her achievements are undeniable, and she certainly brought kvell to her homeland (at least until she defected herself in 1989), there's no indication of any connection to the Chosen People. Despite her incredible balance and precision, she doesn't appear to have balanced a challah on her head, nor precisely recited any Hebrew prayers.
